After the declaration of a pandemic due to coronavirus, signaled by the WHO on March 11th and the successive restrictions that began both in Chile and in the world, forced hundreds of international events to be suspended , including art fairs around the world.
Faced with this scenario, Ch.ACO postponed its physical fair and rethought its online marketing and strategies. To do so, it created an alliance with the art sales web platform, ARTSY. The objective is the participating galleries in the version that was going to be held on March of this year, can sell and spread their artists for free, in one of the leading web platforms internationally for the sale of contemporary art.
The online event titled Open Ch.ACO, will open on Wednesday, May 27th and will run for one month, until June 27th. It’s publicly accessible and free for everyone, the website will work 24 hours a day in order to know and visit the different profiles of the participating galleries.
The 35 exhibitors from both the MAIN and PLANT section of the fair, will have the opportunity to present the artworks of their artists in an international market different than the physical art fairs, they will be able to reach other art collectors and buyers around the world and, of course, sell the artworks through direct communication between the buyer and the gallery.
Recognized Chilean galleries such as Factoría Santa Rosa will participate, will have artworks by Julia Toro, Guillermo Nuñez, Gonzalo Cienfuegos, among others; Galería Patricia Ready will exhibit artworks by Rodrigo Valenzuela and Patricia Domínguez, among others; Prima Galería will present artworks by Matilde Pérez and Roberto Matta; Galería La Sala will show artworks by Juan Luis Dörr, Pikti, among others; in addition to other national galleries will exhibit in this online edition.
Likewise, some of the international galleries will participate at Open Ch.ACO will be the Argentinian gallery Gachi Prieto, will come with Samy Benmayor; Pablo Rodríguez Blanco and José Benmayor, Revólver from Peru/Argentina, will have the artists Alejandra Prieto and Cosima Zu Knyphausen; the Spanish Polígrafa Obra Gráfica will present unpublished works by Iván Navarro and Ricardo Maffei, and Project N.A.S.A.(L) from Peru/Ecuador, will show the work of Jessica Briceño Cisneros.
